Grayson’s history

Grayson became a village on April 19, 1906, and marked its 100th anniversary in 2006. It sits within the Rural Municipality of Grayson No. 184.

Like many small Saskatchewan communities, Grayson was built along a railway line that no longer exists. The grain elevator is gone too, but a few distinctive businesses, along with its closeness to Melville, help the village prosper.

The best known of these is Ottenbreit's Meats, the source of the famous Grayson Sausage. The village also has a post office, a grocery and cafe, a hardware store, plumbers, a tavern, an elementary school, village and Rural Municipality offices, business and computer technical services, a dance hall and a seniors centre.
